Who counts as uniformed services?
Permanent members of the Armed Forces (Army, Navy, Air Force), the Hellenic Police, the Fire Service and the Coast Guard.
What exactly do I get compared to a normal mortgage?
A lower rate and lower loan costs, from a special price list. And financing goes up to 90% of the value, as for a first home, so you need less of your own money.
I serve in a different city from where I want to buy. Is that OK?
Yes. Many people buy in their home town or where they plan to settle. Tell us from the start whether it will be your main home, because that affects the terms, and we'll tell you what applies at each bank.
What if I'm transferred after buying?
The loan carries on as normal; a transfer doesn't affect it. You can rent the home out while you're away.
Do allowances count as income?
Banks look at net income as shown on your payslips and tax assessment. Regular monthly allowances usually count; one-off payments don't.
I'm on a mission or at a remote unit. Can I apply?
Yes. The application, ID check and documents are all online. You only need to be present to sign, and that can also be done by power of attorney.
Does it apply to my spouse too?
The special price list is for the person who serves. If you take the loan together as co-borrowers, the terms usually apply to the whole loan. We'll confirm it for the bank you choose.
